highlighter
A couple of years ago, my accountability group took on Philippians for a month. We tried to read it every day. We tried a few different ways of studying and assimilating the material. One of the exercises that I found very helpful had to do with two highlighters. We took one color and highlighted everything that God has done or will do. With the other color, we highlighted everything we are supposed to do or think or feel or be. It is an interesting way to look at Scripture. Let's try to get a running list going - list everything that God has done or will do. Then, tomorrow, we can list everything that we are supposed to do.

He brought Paul to Rome to defend the Good News. 1:16
ReplyDelete1:19 "...the Spirit of Jesus Christ helps me,..."
ReplyDeleteGod does not come to us in prefection but in our despair and when we are broken.

With his words Paul speaks of unity,of being one! he wrote
"Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
but made himself nothing...."
What God has done - in inspiring Paul with these ideals and words, God has enabled Paul to write and inspire, each person who reads, if you think abou it, over the many years. If each one then acts, great things are done, we could not list them, we become one in Christ, with Paul though these words.
I wonder at what acts have been done after reading these words, from a man with nothing. Asking nothing, to be nothing...
Who he is writing to is so important to , they are to suffer so much but gain strength by these words. To much to list..
1:28 We are going to be saved by God Himself.
ReplyDelete2:7 "He made Himself nothing; He took the humble position of a slave and appeared in human form."
ReplyDelete2:8 "...He obediently humbled Himself even further by dying a criminal's death on a cross."
ReplyDelete2:9 "...God raised Him up to the heights of heaven and gave Him a name that is above every other name,"
ReplyDelete2:13 "...God is working in (us), giving (us) the desire to obey Him and the power to do what pleases him."
ReplyDelete2:24 "...I have confidence from the Lord..."
ReplyDelete2:27 "...God had mercy on him - and also on me,..."
ReplyDelete3:1 "...may the Lord give you joy...."
ReplyDelete3:9 He saves us. He makes us right with Himself.
ReplyDelete3:14 "...God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven."
ReplyDelete3:15 "...I believe God will make it plain to you."
ReplyDelete4:5 "...the Lord is coming soon."
ReplyDelete4:7 "...His peace will guard (our) hearts and (our) minds as (we) live in Christ Jesus."
ReplyDelete4:19 "...this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus."
